How to develop the "Special" telephone collection voice

You are going to make a collection telephone call. You've reviewed antecedent data, planned the call. You're eager for results.

Many times, when phoning with a plan... the edge in completing that payment arrangement can be the sound of your special voice... your compelling voice of authority.

So, develop your special voice. Compared with your normal voice, the special voice has three features: It is (1) Slower, (2) Lower, (3) Louder (but not offensively so).

For four evenings, five minutes per evening... do this: Obtain a magazine. Go into a room of your home. Be alone.

Begin to read aloud in your normal voice, for three seconds. Then listen to the sound of your voice. Do this by jamming a finger in one ear (that way you'll hear your voice as others hear it).

Let your voice improve, sounding better to you. It will. When you discern the improvement, remove your finger and keep that new improved voice through the balance of the five minutes.

Repeat the exercise each evening. Each evening your voice will become slower... lower... louder. The fifth morning, you'll simply "order up" that special voice, when phoning.

This exercise, especially the finger in the ear... is indeed corny and hammy (that's why you're alone in the room). But it works!

And you do have the time. And you can't beat the price. And you and your Collectors will hike another leg up on improved cash flow.
